The 3030 is a compact size and high-lumen design concept. It is one of GZYSLED's new 1W packages that can be clustered in small arrays for high-lumen density applications, paired with individual optics for directional lamps, or spread out evenly on a board for diffused applications. It is a very adaptable LED for multiple high-lifetime applications.
It is mainly used to realize biometric unlocking function for mobile phones and tablets. The LED is only 1.6mm high, it can achieve narrow angle emission from a very small size, reaching a record radiant intensity value. It paves the way for a compact,energy-efficient design that facilitates reliable iris scanning on mobile devices. Mobile phones and tablets are increasingly used for sensitive applications such as online banking and online shopping, so the adoption of biometrics on these devices is the latest trend. In addition to fingerprint scanning, many manufacturers are considering iris scanning as a new biometric unlocking method. Infrared light will illuminate the eye, and the camera on the device will capture the iris image to identify its characteristics.
Biometrics in mobile devices
For mobile applications, the lower the transmitter power, the better. This is very important.
In this respect, a wavelength of 1050 nm is particularly suitable because it enables a variety of color, high contrast iris images with relatively low light levels. Current designs typically use multiple infrared LEDs, and the new IR LEDs are so bright that they require only a small transmitter to operate the iris scanner.
